GS1 Alliance Prefix
Participating GS1 Member Organizations may license a GS1 Company Prefix for assignment to and use by businesses located outside of the United States that conducts business inside of the United States. In addition, the GS1 Member Organization has the exclusive responsibility for ongoing maintenance of the GS1 Company Prefix.
Prefixes are available in different “capacities” that allow businesses to barcode as few as 100 unique products and as many as 1,000 unique products. They’ll need a barcode for each product variation, such as size and color. Choose a prefix capacity that best meets the needs of your member’s business now and in the near future.
